The Vesak Candle Lantern to pay homage to The Buddha for Peace in India

The ceremony of The Vesak Candle Lantern lighting inaugural event in India was held in 2010 and has been organized each year since then. This year it is the third anniversary of this important ceremony in India and was arranged for May 6th 2012 at Saket Ground in a city of Thane, Maharashtra. It was promoted through the media of television and publications in order to invite many people to participate in the ceremony. Attending the event was approximately 1500 participants and we had the honored of having Mr. Niranjan Vasant Davkhare; The president of Samanvay Pratishthan which means the ‘Unity for Peace’.

This ceremony of The Vesak Candle Lantern lighting to pay homage to The Buddha for Peace was the first celebration of the Buddha’s enlightenment in the land of his enlightenment. This event was greatly encouraged and supported by Phrathepyanamahamuni; The Abbot of Dhammakaya Temple, His Excellency Hon. Shri Babanrao Pachpute; Minister of Tribal Development, Maharashtra Government and Mr. Vikram Pachpute; The Director of Parikrama University together with the local Indian Buddhists who have devout faith in The Buddha.
